Chopped hair, smashed fingers, and other happenings

I would love to have long hair, but I just. can't. get past that awkward stage. So I chop it!

Our Ryan boy is accident prone. We were loading up groceries at Walmart and somehow I completely closed the door (like it clicked shut) on his fingers. It was awful and traumatizing for everyone! They looked broken and we rushed him to instacare next door. They were blue and swollen and there were these GIANT indents where the door was. They did X-rays and by some miracle they weren't broken. The doc said that his bones are still just small and soft enough that they flexed in the door and didn't break. Thank the heavens! Poor buddy. These were the only pictures I could take, hours later when they were just a tiny bit swollen. He healed so fast!!

We met our friends at the park one day. It was cold and windy so we decided to go hang out at Amanda's house down the street. We piled the toddlers in the back seat and drove over there. This picture makes me laugh so hard. It perfectly describes these two. Emery is brave and wild and independent, and Ryan is like wheeeere the heck is my seat?!

We took the boys to Chubby's Friday evening for a family date night. Ryan got his own kids burger and fries and was in heaven! He was so stoked about his little cup of water.

On our way home the boys fell asleep so we decided to keep the peace and go for a drive. We ended up on a nice little dirt road and broke out our Western Swing moves. I love this man so much and it was so fun to dance with him again just like we used to!

Summer turned into fall with little warning and suddenly the air is crisp and we're pulling out winter clothes! The highs this week have been in the 50s and 60s. I swear just yesterday I was pouring sweat on our evening walks, now I'm bundling up the babies before we go!

Hunt turned 4 months old. How did that happen?? He gets sweeter every day.

Ryan's definitely a mama's boy, but he loves "helping" Jake work.

Our Sunday trip to grandma and grandpa's house looked something like this. :)

This weekend is the beginning of conference and lots of other fun things. Can't believe September is almost already over!

More catching up

Still playing catch up a bit over here!
Jake took Friday off to help me transition Hunter to bottles and then Monday was Labor Day, so we had an extra extra long weekend! On Monday we met Heather at city creek to see if there were any good sales and to let Ryan run and play in the fountains and look at the fish. I love evenings out with the family! I found a really cute outfit, but couldn't quite justify $80 sweat pants, haha!

Ry played hard with grandma and zonked out on the way home.

My sweet happy boy.

One day after nap time Ryan and I shared a bowl of crackers on the floor. I looked away for a minute and when I turned back he had all of them in his hands and was eating them like a sandwich. Cracked me up! This is why I vacuum every day.

Casey and Logan met us at the Ashton Gardens. It was all fun and games until Ryan ran straight into the fish fond. I had to jump in after him up to my knees and he was soaking wet head to toe! So scary in the moment, but so funny now. I didn't have a dry change of clothes for him so he had to finish the morning in a diaper and dirty pj shirt from that morning that was in my bag. That's the sign of a good time!

Also a sign of a good time.

Ryan insisted on holding Jake's hand one night on our walk. This was also Hunter's first time in the actual stroller seat instead of his car seat! Where has my baby gone??

AND he's rolling back to belly.

Ryan is starting to show a lot of interest in Hunter. So darn cute. I am so so giddy over watching these two grow up so close together. Ryan loves to put a binky in Hunter's mouth then pop it back out. I'm sure some day Hunter isn't going to be quite so tolerant of this game. :)

These pictures make me laugh so hard. We had David and Rissa over for dinner and Ryan insisted on running around naked. He ended up chilling on this chair and covering his privates so daintily. Crazy kid.

I was having a rough time with the boys one afternoon and after trying and trying to get them to nap, I gave up and laid Hunter on the rug and plopped Ryan in the bath. They were both instantly happy. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow!

More porch hangs while dad pulls weeds. I have the fun job. :)

A random picture of my perfect little squish, and my handsome hubby trying on coats for date night. We're a real party over here.

Tonight we went to Paige's son Bridger's first birthday party. We were an hour late (whoooops!) but made it in time to watch him smash his cake and hang out for a bit. No pictures, but Bridger had no hesitations and went to town on that thing. Then both kids screamed the whole way home. So much fun.

I think I'm all caught up now, and will try to be better about staying on top of the blog!

A busy week

We had the busiest week! (Two weeks ago...it's taking me forever to write this post!) We ended last weekend with a busy Sunday and it hasn't stopped since.
We had our first tomato harvest! Our garden has been thoroughly neglected so we didn't expect much, but it keeps surprising us.

We went to church and of course fought Ryan to stay in nursery half of the time. He wouldn't have it and ended up hanging out in Jake's sunbeams class so I could go to relief society. It ended up working quite nicely!

There was ANOTHER fire close by. Someone posted this picture on the Eagle Mountain Facebook page. Some of them are too close for comfort!

I also made a mega batch of zucchini bread with our garden zucchini. We burnt the bottom of the cake pan loaf. We forgot to take it out before the thicker ones...duh. The top was still delicious!

That evening we went to my parents house in Taylorsville for dinner and my mom played and played with Ryan. He was digging this blanket fort.

I've been trying to get up early when Hunter wakes up to get all ready for the day before Ryan is awake. My little buddies are so happy and cute in the morning.

On Monday we went to the farm with Paige and Bridger. Bridger is almost one and is the flirtiest little thing! We had a picnic and Ryan entertained himself with Paige's stroller for a solid 20 mins while Bridger played in the dirt. Talk about a mama's dream.

I started putting together a fall capsule wardrobe for Ryan and ohhh man he's gonna be one stylin' little dude here in a couple months!

My Ryan got his first haircut and he looks so big and handsome! Our neighbor Breanna did it, and despite the look on his face, he really really loves her.

I put together a ladies night for the gals in my neighborhood. We went to the Food truck roundup right down the street and ate lots of yummy food. It was a really good time and we had a really good turnout!

And lots of hangs at home with my boys. I've really struggled mentally with nursing Hunter the past month or so. Every time he would latch I would get the worst feelings. Thinking it's possibly DMER? We've switched to pumping and bottle feeding with a little formula here and there to get him used to it (not a fan of pumping so I don't want to do it forever) and although it was a struggle the first couple of days, he's doing REALLY well now!! We're all much happier.

The current natural disasters around the world are devestating to watch. We're praying for all those involved and have donated what we can. Food storage has never felt so important!
