Aaaaalmost home!

We're so close to being able to move in to the house I can almost TASTE it! I'm praying we don't get delayed, we are so ready.
Doors are painted, and as of today, the whole place is primed! We didn't take any pictures as we were trying not to breathe in there. The dust was for real. The guy that was working said they'll be painting the color we chose tomorrow!! I hope we picked a good one!

Jake installed all the flooring! He did an amazing job. The stuff we chose for most of the house is called luxury vinyl, it's super durable/waterproof, which is a must with kids.

We dropped off the tile for the bathrooms and the installer said the kind we bought wouldn't work on walls. Whoops! Back to Lowe's we went. I was a little bummed at first but our second choice looks pretty dang good too.

Siding is up!! Once the door is stained and the garage door is on I'll post a full picture, but for now....

They also cased the windows, but the pictures I have really don't do it justice.
That's it on the house front! The goal is to be in before Jake goes on a business trip at the end of October. We have high hopes!
In other news...Ryan suddenly decided he LOVES a binky?? Ok, weird, but I'll take it! That thing rocks.

He also adores my parents' cat. The cat is surprisingly patient with Ryan. It's also motivating him to roll, cause he wants to pull all that fur. Bonus!

We refinished some night stands. We used chalk paint, dark glaze, and sealed them with polyurethane. They turned out awesome! Except for the fact that they're 2 inches wider than our space. Doh! #diyfail

We went to Gardner Village with Paige and Bridger. Ryan was digging this rocking chair.

Can't wait to update with paint on the walls and maybe even cabinets installed!!

Life Lately

Like I mentioned in my last post, I'm all sorts of behind. Here's what we've been up to the past week or so!
The truck came home. He's trying to play it cool, but really he could have done a happy dance right then and there.

I'm just happy there was a good way to cart some mums around. ;)

Sweet little baby Bridger Scott was born! I love him. I'm trying to refrain from showing up at Paige's door every day to snuggle him.

Two words...face. swap. SO creepy. We laughed our heads off over these.

Dad likes to make baby a shepherd in Target.

Haha. Testing out porch benches. There's only one way to find out if they're comfy...might as well climb right up!

Squishy little buddy.

We met dad for an ice cream cone on his lunch break one day!

All snuggly after the bath. That big ol' scratch by his eye is from his toenail! The struggles of trying to eat your feet...

Laundry buddy! He makes doing it just a little bit better. :)

We went back and looked at all the pictures we took from Ryan's first week. Oh my heavens, he is precious. What I would give for one more day with that little squish!

An Overdue House Update

I'm a bit behind in the blogging world! Here's what's been happening around here house wise.
Several days ago we came down and saw the whole house insulated! Shortly after, drywall was hung and they had completed the first coat of mud.

Much prettier after drywall. :)

An up close of the siding color! We love it.

A couple days after that we saw the retaining wall in the back go up. It looks pretty awesome, but once the fence is in on our side we won't even see it. We were required by the city to have it so our water doesn't run into the neighbors property. We originally thought we were going to have to pay for material to build it, but there were enough rocks that they dug up on our property that it only cost us labor. Bonus!

We're down here and are seeing huuuuge progress!! Another coat of mud is on the walls plus texture. The siding on the back and sides is almost done (they're finishing tomorrow) and the brick is 100% complete! I was sooo nervous to see how the exterior would come together, but so far I'm loving it.

We picked out our tile for the bathrooms over the weekend, and that's going in Friday. Here's a little sneaky peak.

Jake is installing the vinyl for the main living areas (did I already mention that?) and Brad dropped it off at the house today! It looks AWESOME. We didn't even know that was an option until like a week ago, but it's going to save us a bunch of money. Plus let's be honest, Jake's dying to get involved.

I'm currently blogging from the truck with a sleeping baby. Jake is inside laying some leveling concrete in some areas where the footers settled before he starts laying vinyl tomorrow.

The painters come next week, and after that cabinets will be installed. Then it's just a matter of finishing touches! Hardware, fixtures, carpet, toilets. It feels just out of reach! We're so anxious to move in.
If you made it this far....high five. I'll try to be better about updates so they don't take an hour to read. ;) home sweet home!

Seven Month Update

Ryan turned 7 months old last week! He •will sit up and play all day long, but isn't really interested in trying to go anywhere...I'm just enjoying him not being super mobile yet ;) •has liked every food we have offered! He gets a mix of purées and table food •is a giant. Not sure exact #s, but he feels huge •went through a happy screaming phase •has started napping for 1-2 hours at a time (finally) •is happy as a clam outside! I can't wrap my head around how fast he's growing, but I'm loving every second.

We're so lucky to have him!

Labor Day

We had such a fun Labor Day! Jake took Friday off, plus he was off Monday, so we had a jam-packed 4 day weekend together. Now he's back at work and we miss him already!
On Friday we went to check on the house, met Brad to look at flooring (see last post), picked up some pillow inserts so I could sew some covers, and went on a date!

On Saturday we made a trip out to the zoo. That was more for Jake and I, but we like to pretend it was for Ryan. ;)

We also went to Sprinkler World to get a sprinkler plan engineered. Jake's going to install them as soon as our driveway and sidewalk are poured, and then we can lay sod and plant the perennials we bought.

On Saturday we locked in our mortgage rate, and went to find Jake a truck. We found a screamin deal and this beaut may or may not be coming home with us today. Needless to say, he's stoked!

Sunday was church and naps and a whole lot of nothin.

On Monday we went on a hike. We had planned to just stroll around Silver Lake and then see how Ryan was doing, but it was PACKED (Labor Day, duh.) Wanting to avoid the masses, we broke off onto a random trail we saw. We asked some people coming down where it led to, and apparently we were hiking to Lake Solitude! We hiked a mile and a half up, and then decided to turn back around cause Ryan was starting to get super tired and cranky. He probably would have made it the rest of the way after I nursed him, but we didn't want to risk him screaming the whole way down. ;)
I wore him on my back up, and Jake wore him down.

The air was crisp and the leaves have started to change!

We can't wait to go back next year when Ryan is cruising all over the place.
